Brilliant Viktor & Rolf

2 October 2008

First time a fashion show is scheduled to be presented on the Internet and the result has left me speechless. The concept and the execution are wonderful. These guys are so forward minded! The pics say nothing, you NEED TO see the propper show, only available on their site.

Dress above + bag below = perfection

Update: Suzy Menkes says that, even though the concept was good, a live show of the Dutch duo is much better. What she doesn’t realize is that most of human beings can’t make it to one of their shows, and in a way that’s the point of the online performance. Internet is democratic and brigns evertything to everyone. And it has to be fast, they can’t “waste time” zooming in details, as she suggests, since speedy Internet users would just go surf somewhere else.

Tribute to Suzy Menkes

29 September 2008

Suzy Menkes & Vivienne Westwood

Most famous fashion journalist all over the world just celebrated in Paris her 20 years at International Herald Tribune, with an event that gathered most important designers. By publishing almost everyday, honest Suzy gives me the hope that fashion might not all be about connections, but also about hard work. Much more on style.com.

Raf Simons, marry me

25 September 2008

… And I promise I will always wear your clothes.

This time I do agree with Suzy Menkes who, by the way, says that Simons has renewed his contract with Jil Sander for 3 more years.

Anyone doubted minimal fringe was possible?
Los flecos minimalistas son posibles, sí.

Killer Prada

25 September 2008

Even though Jessica Stam stumbles and trusty Suzy Menkes doesn’t agree, I’ve found Prada’s show just gorgeous.

—————

Ok, she is going a bit too far with impossible shoes: two models fell down and many others wobbled. But coming from Prada, one can always put forward that it’s some sort of intellectul metaphor of current economical situation, for instance. Foolish stuff appart, the shoes are stunning.

—————

(Literally) killer shoes

And one thing that I don’t get clear. Why does Style’s Sarah Mower say “this is a collection destined to look even better on a woman with a real body than it does on a teen model”? By “real body”, does she mean “real fit belly”?

—————

Update: Video of a model’s fall. Let’s face it: Miuccia makes mistakes.
